I believe the world’s toughest challenges demand bold, collaborative solutions—that’s why I work across government, nonprofits, and the private sector to bring people together and drive real, lasting change.

Hi, my name is Hassan.

I’m a policy strategist and organizational leader with over a decade of experience advancing equity, justice, and safety across government, nonprofit, and private sectors. I currently lead NaveedCo, where I partner with mission-driven organizations to drive strategy, shape public narratives, and implement systems change.

My work experience:

Previously, I served as a Special Investigator and Director at the Office of the Inspector General for the NYPD, where I led oversight investigations into policing and worked to reform law enforcement practices in New York City. I was later appointed by Mayor Bill de Blasio to launch the NYC Mayor’s Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes—where I served as the office’s first Deputy Director and was later promoted to Executive Director, making it the first office of its kind in the country focused on addressing hate through community-centered, multi-agency solutions.

What does my work look like in the end?

My work brings together cross-sector partners, impacted communities, and multidisciplinary strategies to tackle complex social issues. The tangible results of my work include city and statewide policy reforms, policy research and analysis, the creation of new government offices and initiatives, emergency funding pipelines for community groups, national media campaigns, coalition-building efforts, and programs that promote safety and healing on the ground.

What values drive my work?

The values that drive my work are equity, accountability, and community empowerment. I believe in cross-sector collaboration, centering impacted voices, and building solutions that are strategic, just, and rooted in care.
